Celebrating 50 Years of Hawaii’s Statehood
Interview with award winner, Gaellen Quinn
WHO: Gaellen Quinn, author of The Last Aloha, and frequent traveler to Hawaii for most of her life, has a long fascination with Hawaiian history. However, it wasn’t until her brother married into a Hawaiian family that Quinn learned of the royal Hawaiians and their history. Unlike James Michener’s 1959 classic, Hawaii, which skips over the monarchy period completely, Quinn created a story that more accurately reflects some of Hawaii’s darkest days.
WHAT: With our current president hailing from the great state of Hawaii, your audience would enjoy celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood this year. Inspired by true events suppressed for nearly 100 years, The Last Aloha paints a vivid picture of the final days of the Hawaiian monarchy – when the last Queen tragically struggled against American missionary descendents to save her throne.
WHEN: Quinn is available for interviews upon request. Her book is available for review.
